5 ways to use Organic Rosehip oil in your Daily Routine

What is Rosehip Oil?

Rosehips are cultivated from the Rose plant. Grown predominately in south America these bulbs provide a woody, subtle earthy tone unlike their Rose petal counterparts. Rich in Vitamins A, C + E, Fatty acids (linolenic acid, linoleic acid and oleic acid) and anti-oxidants this oil has a comedogenic rating of 1 meaning it is unlikely to cause break outs.

What Does Organic Rosehip Oil Do?

Rosehip Oil helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This is due to the high levels of vitamin A - a natural retinoid that can help stimulate collagen production and improve skin elasticity.

It improves skin texture and tone. Rosehip oil is rich in essential fatty acids, which help to hydrate and nourish the skin, which helps to reduce the appearance of rough, dry patches and leaves your skin looking smooth and radiant.

Organic Rosehip oil Hydrates and moisturizes dry skin. The essential fatty acids in the oil help to lock in moisture and prevent water loss, leaving your skin feeling soft and supple. Making it a great choice for those with dry or dehydrated skin, as well as those with mature skin that may be prone to dryness.

It helps fade scars and hyper-pigmentation. Rosehip oil contains high levels of vitamin A, which is known for its ability to promote skin cell turnover and regeneration which helps to reduce the appearance of scars and dark spots over time, giving you a more even skin tone.

Organic Rosehip can protect against sun damage and environmental stressors. Rosehip oil is rich in antioxidants, which can help to neutralize free radicals that can damage your skin cells and cause premature aging. Its essential fatty acids content can help to strengthen your skin barrier and protect against environmental pollutants and toxins. But remember, it is not a replacement for SPF!

5 Ways to Use Rosehip Oil*

  1. As a Moisturiser

As we have seen, Rosehip is pretty much a wonder oil, helping everything from scars, to dryness and reducing fine lines. All this makes it a perfect oil for the face. There is only one little problem - the colour. While rosehip oil doesn’t stain your skin, you’ll certainly get a bit of a shock if you apply it raw to lighter skin tones (trust me on this, it’s a mistake I’ve already made)

So we’d recommend blending it with another lightweight oil, like Almond or Apricot Kernel, so you can get all the benefits without the interesting orange glow

  2. As a Facial Cleanser / make up remover

The same applies here with using Rosehip as a cleanser or make up remover, it’s best to blend it with other oils (or you can just use one of our Oil Cleansers, which contains a rosehip blend already). Head over to our Oil Cleansing blog to learn all about Soap Free Skin Cleansing

  3. A Scalp Oil

Is your scalp in need of a little tlc? Scalp oiling is on the rise as more people become aware of the immense benefits it has for both scalp health and hair growth. Apply a few drops of your Rosehip blend to the roots of your hair before a shower and massage gently. This nourishes the skin, helps to remove dead skin cells and has even been shown to increase hair quality and prevent hair fall

    4. To Treat Problem areas of skin (knees, elbows and feet)

Give your body a bit of extra love post bath or shower by rubbing Rosehip oil into problem areas of the skin. For example I have particularly dark, rough elbows, and so once a week I couple Rosehip with our Bath and Shower loofah, and just spend a bit of time oiling first and then lightly scrubbing, rinsing and repeating

    5. To Reduce the appearance of scars

Apply topically to scars, stretch marks or areas of uneven skin tone. You wont see results immediately, but if you stick at it over the course of a few months, you should begin to see results

*Always do a skin / Hair test before using a new product. Rosehip oil is a deep red colour and may cause staining to clothing or lighter hair
