Shampoo Bar Rosemary + Lavender
Our shampoo bar has been formulated with lots of lovely cold pressed Rapeseed oil, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and our home-grown Rosemary, infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Rosemary essential oils are said to stimulate hair growth, while Apple Cider Vinegar is known to promote strong and healthy hair, stabilise your hairs Ph balance and to add softness.
No need to dispose of those plastic bottles, all of our soaps are wrapped in recycled paper which can be composted. You can carry on using your normal conditioner or try out our Lavender + Rose Geranium Hair Conditioner with Organic Broccoli oil.
Free UK PostageWhen you spend £40 or more you qualify for free UK postage.
WorkshopAll of our products are made with the best natural ingredients we can find and lovingly crafted at our cottage in the Herefordshire countryside.
No Parabens, Artificial Colours
We use the cold process method when making all our soaps and also a process called super-fatting. Doing this allows us to keep the free oils and the naturally occurring glycerine. This is what makes them so exceptionally moisturising.
To use the shampoo bar just wet your hair thoroughly and rub the bar over your head until you create a nice frothy lather. If your bar is new you might want to use a flannel to help ‘break the seal’. Wash your hair as normal and pat dry before adding conditioner. You can carry on using your normal conditioner or try out our Lavender + Rose Geranium Hair Conditioner with Organic Broccoli oil.
HINTS + TIPS
Because commercial detergent shampoo strips your hair of its natural oils, your scalp has to produce excess oil to compensate. This means that there is often an adjustment period after swapping to a natural shampoo. During this period your hair may feel greasy or heavy, however this should pass after a week or so when your hair has rebalanced its oil production. (This period may take longer if you have chemically treated hair).
There is also the problem of product build up from commercial shampoos and conditioners which often contain waxes, synthetic silicones, and silica that coat your hair, to make it "feel" nice, but leave a residue in your hair. See our Baking Soda solution to help tackle this problem.
HARD OR SOFT WATER?
If you live in a hard water area you might find the swap to a Shampoo bar a bit harder. Hard water has a high mineral content, but not the sorts of minerals you want in your hair. Often the water has passed through chalk or limestone, which can cause a build-up or residue in your hair.
There are however a couple of things you can try to get your hair feeling luscious faster.
Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse
Add 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar to a cup of warm water and use this to rinse your hair after shampooing. Some people may need to change the quantities of Apple Cider Vinegar used depending on their needs.
Install a Water Softener.
If you live in a hard water area you might choose to install a reverse osmosis filtration system in your house. This will help prevent the build-up of limescale in your pipes and purify the water that you drink. Of course, it’s also great for your hair and skin.
Some people suggest adding a teaspoon of baking soda to a pint of warm water and using this to wash your hair. It is said to make the water feel softer, allowing your shampoo bar to produce a better lather.
We do not suggest that you use baking soda and a vinegar rinse at the same time, as these two ingredients will react with one another.
Please always make sure you have rinsed your hair thoroughly after shampooing.
Since our hand-crafted soaps have no chemical preservatives, they deserve a little bit of care to keep them happy and prolong their lives. All of our soaps contain a high percentage of natural glycerine, which is great for your skin as its incredibly moisturising, but it also attracts water. So, it's really important to keep them somewhere dry.
When you're not using your soap it's best to keep them out of water on a well-drained surface, allowing it to dry between uses. Use a soap dish (wooden dishes with open slats are perfect) or you could even be a bit creative and use a few pebbles from the garden. This will help keep your soap happy so you can keep feeling naturally fresh and fragrant for as long as possible!

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS SHAMPOO BAR!! FROM THE VERY FIRST WASH MY HAIR FELT SUPER HEALTHY, LIGHT AND BOUNCY. I DON'T NORMALLY USE CONDITIONER, BUT AS MY HAIR IS VERY LONG AND TENDS TO BE ON THE DRY SIDE I CONDITION IT WITH SOME OLIVE OR COCONUT OIL ONCE A WEEK - JUST DOUSE MY HAIR IN OIL, WRAP AND LEAVE FOR ABOUT HALF HOUR, THEN WASH WELL WITH THE SHAMPOO BAR. (I GUESS THIS STEP WOULD BE UNNECESSARY IF YOUR HAIR IS NORMAL OR TENDS TO GET GREASY EASILY - JUST THE BAR ON ITS OWN SHOULD WORK FOR YOU!) COULDN'T RECOMMEND IT MORE!
This is the first bar shampoo to work well with my hair. So glad to have got through the adjustment period (which never happened with other shampoo bars-i've tried many). Definitely worth the effort. I suspect the cider vinegar is key and the oils are not too over powering. MY HAIR IS SMOOTH, MANAGEABLE, HEALTHY AND SMELLS GREAT. Thank you
So GReat!!! me and my boyfriend absolutely love it. It took my hair adjust a lil longer than his, but my hair only needed apple cider vinegar rinses twice and after that its been great. ALSO, I took my bar with me while going to hairdressers to do some highlights- I wanted to give it a try if it would wash out all the colour and bleach and voila! my hair is colour treated and I have no problems washing with this soap bar. Have to order some more now. Give it a try!!
This shAmpoo soap is absolutely amazing, I am so glad i found it! It foams so much more than any other natUral shampoo ive used, and has a Gorgeous smelling lather. My hair feels clean but also nourished - with natural shampoos My hair usually Still feels a bit greasy. But this bar is the perfect balance, it feels so clean but equally has a lovely weight to it, it feels shiny and hydrated. I intend to never use anything else aGain! Seriously impressed and happy ive found it :) I cannot recommend this enough!
Really lovely product which I definitely recommend, makes the whole house smell good and works really well on my hair.
Really horrid. I have thick, greying, colour treated hair. I’ve used this product twice. Both times my hair felt like candy floss afterwards. Despite rinsing in a hot shower for absolutely ages, i was left with a waxy residue on my haIr. On touching my hair, it felt like i had been stroking a dog. My friend bought one too and has had the same experience.
Thank you Kim for taking time to write a review. Sorry to hear that the shampoo bar is not working for you. It does state on the leaflet that there can be a transition period, especially if you have treated hair. You don't mention if you tried the Apple Cider Vinegar rinse which is recommended? Another trick if you live in a hard water area is to add a pinch of baking soda to a pint of warm water. Use this solution to wet hair before shampooing. It can help the shampoo bar lather better and thus rinse out more thoroughly. There are lots of hints and tips on our website. If you still find it is not working for you it is totally fine to use the shampoo bar for your body!
Thank you Anna for taking time to write a review. Sorry to hear that the shampoo bar is not working for you. As you say it can take a while for your hair to get used to this kind of shampoo, everyone’s hair is different and maybe this is not the shampoo for you but glad you are enjoying it as a body soap :)
